Our 1950s Kitchen Gets a Facelift

The kitchen is spacious but had a broken double oven, electric cooktop and tiny refrigerator space. We consulted with a contractor and decided to tear out the electric cooktop and ovens to make more room for a free standing range and a larger refrigerator. We're making the change to gas as well. We visited Sears, Home Depot and Best Buy and bought a Kenmore gas range. It will be delivered on Friday!

The hood is stainless steel and is back in style! We will leave it as a tribute to the original features of the home. We had the yellow tile countertop removed and replaced it with thick butcher block for food prep. The lower cupboard was removed to make way for the range.

Removing the oven will give us plenty of room for our double door refrigerator.
